Doping at the Olympics!

Thanks to the disqualification of a Korean silver medalist yesterday, I have discovered that, due to the medication for high blood pressure they have me on, my dreams of success in air rifle are never to be. Same with synchronized swimming. Alas! I'm doping!

What do the beta-blockers do if you are using them for anxiety but have low blood pressure?

I dunno, I'm not a doctor :) I know they also slow your heart rate, which I guess would help anxiety.

I thought I was having anxiety attacks when I was pregnant -- and then I figured out it was because of the constriction of the diaphragm -- the emotional response was being triggered by the physical symptom, not vice versa. I felt much better after that!

Don't know about low blood pressure (sadly, I have the opposite problem) but apparently they're a *really* bad idea if you're at all asthmatic, as I found out when the hospital failed to notice the contra-indication when Simon was born!

Hey, I'm just grateful for the big red NO PENICILLIN bracelet they gave me. Wheeziness I could handle, anaphylaxis, not so much :P
