I think this is what they call a brain dump

1. G. has a job with the census--he has training tomorrow through Friday. I have a short-term (part time) contract. I still don't know how to drive. Schedules may be about to get really interesting.

2. Two things that make me incoherent with rage at the moment:

a. Arizona. Having a Mexican-born grandfather and a Tucson-born mother is really not helping right now.

b. This particular appropriation of V for Vendetta. (The Salon article on the subject argues that ""V" is wish fulfillment and comfort food for a certain kind of IT-type guy, just like "Twilight" is for tween girls," and they may have a point, but I came at it from a very different angle, I did.)

3. I need to get to the thrift store soon.

4. This morning the ladies played dress-up with some shirts from their mother's closet. Extra thanks to [livejournal.com profile] goodbadgirl for the see-through black ruffle shirt that Simone found particularly alluring (it makes a great veil).

5. The familiar refrain: so many ideas, so little time.

Census solidarity!

The Arizona business is so insane.

For some reason, I just read a 500-plus comment thread in which two long-time posters who live in Arizona kept saying things like "Sure this law is stupid, but if you don't want Arizona to come up with its own solutions then you better get the feds to close the border so we don't get killed by all the scary immigrants! ... Hey, why are you being mean to me? I'm a liberal Democrat! [Note, that part is unfortunately true, as far as it goes.] I said I didn't support the law, I just think it's necessary! You just don't understand about Arizona's problems, because you're from places like California and New York that don't have immigrants and crime! You're the reason Republicans win! I'm leaving this blog forever, any minute now!" Etc. etc. etc. etc.

I would love to see pictures of the ladies playing dress-up.
