Halfway Happy

(I haven't gone to bed yet, therefore it's still Day Six.)

Today's happy:

I had a brisk walk with the twins this morning, down to the coffee shop and back, with a small detour up and down Grand Ave just to take in the sights. With the cold and the rain, things were pretty quiet. I also discovered that 10:30 to 11:30 or so is the Nanny Hour, when all the nannies take their walks as well, and I had a lovely chat with someone who commiserated with me on how much work taking care of two kids is.

I could do this every day, I thought. It isn't true. But maybe once a week? I loved the sun and the damp together. I loved the construction workers who said, "where are they going? It's so cold!" I loved the woman at the coffee shop who asked if they were girls or boys or one of each, and when I said, "they're both girls, I know that they're dressed like boys today but that's because I just dress them in whatever we were given that's at hand," she replied, "well, yeah! Might as well use what you get. They won't notice."

Also, the little eggplant hats I had 'em wear make 'em look like Keebler elves, and that makes me happy too.
