Savage and Kiellor, with links.

Dan Savage: This week's Savage Love.

Garrison Kiellor: This week's column in Salon.

I am nothing if not current.

Bonus link: Bitey's translation of Kiellor.

Bonus link #2: Savage's takedown of Kiellor.

Keillor richly deserves the takedown, but Savage isn't winning friends and influencing people over here where I'm sitting.

Umm, the stereotype of the randy husband who wants sex a lot more than his bored wife is a cultural construct, not a universal truth.

Compare and contrast to the Chinese stereotype, for example, of the henpecked and exausted husband who cannot keep up with the insatiable sexual demands of his wife.

My experience, limited though it is, of women's appetites is that they range all over the map. I imagine that men's do also in general. I know that my own are highly variable over time.

Keillor is appalling, and should be roundly beaten about the head and shoulders with a clue-by-four. Savage nonetheless deserves a smack or two also.

It is still my firm opinion that Savage is being inappropriately attacked for sarcastically paraphrasing Sewell and Loh, and that they (Sewell in particular) are the ones who deserve the smacks.

i concur with the sarcasm of it based on my familiarity with his writing. i don't think that he wrote the sarcasm as well as he has in other pieces - but given the context of his column i did read it as taking the piss.
