P.S.

No, I don't know the twins' sex(es) yet. Am I gonna find out? Yes, if they can tell from the ultrasound, possibly as soon as next week. Am I gonna tell you? Maybe. (I already told my co-workers that they have to suffer.) Not publicly. You might have to sign a "no pink/blue" waiver first. I recommend gifts in green, purple (!!!), yellow...

...Or you could go the route my co-worker apparently is: "I'm giving them sports-themed stuff! That's unisex!" Gold star.

Yay! Purple!
They're gonna be pimps! or Prince! or plums!

[identity profile] pantryslut.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
OK, purple it is :)

[identity profile] irontongue.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
How do you feel about Google-branded onezies?

[identity profile] genderfur.livejournal.com 2008-05-31 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahahahahahhaaaaaaaa

I laff so hard, me. I laff and laff.

I couldn't help but notice the brand-name you mentioned, and I looked at your userinfo, and then I laughed. Out loud and everything, too.

We know each other at work, yes we do, thru multiple angles. (I think my userid is pretty obvious, but in any case, I'm currently wrangling Gaygler tshirts. Does that help?)

[identity profile] irontongue.livejournal.com 2008-05-31 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
We've talked about our mutual acquaintances before!

[identity profile] genderfur.livejournal.com 2008-05-31 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
We have? Oh geez, of course we have.

Okay, me and my leetle tiny piece of brain will go crawl offstage now and contemplate the nothingness that is my memory. (Kinda like Zen, but without the good PR.)

Someday we'll even cross paths on our home turf, I 'spect.

[identity profile] irontongue.livejournal.com 2008-05-31 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
You mean "cross paths again." ;-)

[identity profile] genderfur.livejournal.com 2008-05-31 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
ps: I looked at your personal pages and remembered The Great Alice Conversation.

[identity profile] genderfur.livejournal.com 2008-05-31 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Just how many Googlers does your household know, anyway?

[identity profile] pantryslut.livejournal.com 2008-06-01 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
At least five. Off the top of my head.

[identity profile] whipartist.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
One of each would be cool. Then you could randomly "crossdress" them in pink or blue and drive traditional people crazy.

[identity profile] voyeurprincess.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"You might have to sign a "no pink/blue" waiver first. I recommend gifts in green, purple (!!!), yellow..."

You are made of win.

[identity profile] vylar-kaftan.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I am _so_ glad you are trying to avoid the pink/blue thing. I always give baby gifts in green or yellow no matter what. (But you can't escape it totally, I'm afraid.)

[identity profile] bigsockgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
But I like blue! Sigh. I hate that even colors get gendered.

Purple and green stripes!!! :) All the best striped stuff is sized for small humans.

[identity profile] pantryslut.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
OK, just not "baby blue". Navy et. al. might work. And stripes are always keen!

[identity profile] panjianlien.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I applaud your avoidance of color-coded infant filing.

As my traditional baby present is to make and give extra-large rolled-hem burp cloths (because no parent I have ever known has complained about having too many!), I generally buy whatever the best cotton flannel is that I can find. And usually it doesn't matter what color that flannel starts out as, since it becomes baby-spitup-color pretty quick.

Yay! Mardi Gras babies!

[identity profile] pantryslut.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
:)

[identity profile] jactitation.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I have MUCH yellow to pass on to you. I did a big sort today, in fact. But there's also green, white, pink, and blue in there.

I'm thinking the easiest would be sometime when you and Gordon both go to QOM, because I could drop the stuff at his house anytime. (I'd meet you at QOM myself, but we're still getting the 7 p.m. bedtime established.)

[identity profile] pantryslut.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool! The next QOM I am definitely going to be at is June 27.

[identity profile] sfgabe.livejournal.com 2008-05-31 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
what about black?

[identity profile] mattblakk.livejournal.com 2008-05-31 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Blake's favorite color is green.

Green is good.

Randomosity of thoughtage (thinkage?)

[identity profile] genderfur.livejournal.com 2008-05-31 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I give children nothing when they're new. I give only parents presents. I'm such a contrarian.

I enourage you to dress the babies up in the frilliest foofiest stuff you can while you can. At some point they will express a preference and then the foof will be over. Oh yes, and cross-dress them puppies of course.

Factoid: Bean was the total pink-ruffles-loving-girlie when she was little. And she's so not femme now, as you know.

Stripes & polka-dots are grand.

Fwiw, I'll probly give you a million receiving blankets, because I've never known a parent to have too many. Plus there are a LOT of cute patterns in flannel. And maybe some porn or something. (More in the "gifts are for parents" line of thinking.)

Re: Randomosity of thoughtage (thinkage?)

[identity profile] pantryslut.livejournal.com 2008-06-01 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
No porn, please. The parents have enough :)

[identity profile] genderfur.livejournal.com 2008-06-01 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh right. Well then, a cookbook, a soccer ball, and some old scotch. Or maybe bbq supplies. Oh, that's good -- since babies really aren't supposed to be starting fires and stuff.

[identity profile] brisingamen.livejournal.com 2008-05-31 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I used to get into terrible trouble in my major knitting for babies stage for not knitting 'standard' colours. (tell me, do parents have to colour-code their kids because either they can't bring themselves to take the diapers off or check, or people don't believe them when they say what sex the baby is?) Purple is excellent and all babies look good in it! And green.

[identity profile] goodbadgirl.livejournal.com 2008-05-31 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
How bout some classic white with "My Aunt Fran Loves Me Very Much" stitched in various colors? :)

Or, Classic white with "Be very nice to me or my Aunt Fran will Fuck You Up" stitched in various colors?

Even better.

[identity profile] pantryslut.livejournal.com 2008-06-01 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, they're twins. One of each!

[identity profile] ms-anthropy.livejournal.com 2008-06-01 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
No worries about me. Pastels are the devil's swatches. I am firmly convinced that the wallpaper in hell is pink and blue. Ugh.

I am so gonna find you something with purple polka-dots.
