If you had a lot of blueberries that needed eating, what would you do with them?

ETA: My freezer space, alas, is limited.

Feed them to my turtle! His nickname is Scooberry.

But if people were the intended consumers, I'd make a duck breast with blueberry port reduction, then a blueberry cobbler.

Duck is a good thought.

call friends

make cheesecake

make a salad like the booberry salad at Spettro.

wonder if someone else would want to make a pork loin with blueberry reduction or blueberry barbecue sauce

I've seen a recipe recently for blueberry barbecue sauce somewhere.

Figure out how to dry them. Then pancakes!

[identity profile] slfisher.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Drying them is easy. Put them on a sheet of parchment on a cookie sheet in a single layer, and stick them in a very low oven for a while.

Make pie or tarts (easier than jam).

[identity profile] catherineldf.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Muffins and freeze the rest for future projects.

Freezer space is limited, alas.

cobbler all the way. or, ice cream. and/or sorbet? maybe. also, shuna just posted about *pickled* blueberries on her speck sandwich...

[identity profile] pantryslut.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Blueberry sorbet sounds intense!

[identity profile] tenacious-snail.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
the best um party I ever attended included a delivery of homemade blueberry sorbet and homemade vanilla ice cream.

Freeze some for winter when they're hard to get! (Put in freezer bag with a bit of sugar, I think. There are websites on how to do this.)

Or make cobbler insides and freeze that...

a) vodka.
b) freeze them so that when it's february and you haven't seen the sun in a month and it hasn't broken zero for that long either you can have some fruit. er, may not be appropriate for other states, though.

[identity profile] pantryslut.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Also my freezer space, alas, is limited. (And I don't drink enough to use up the vodka any time in the next decade, although it would be delicious whenever I did partake.)

blueberry clafoutis. blueberry galette - I like the Bistro Cooking Patricia Wells recipes.

oh and I have blueberry envy, they are SO expensive here. $7 for a tiny container. I love blueberries in oatmeal. blueberry scones.

[identity profile] pantryslut.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh, blueberry clafoutis.

[identity profile] vylar-kaftan.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Cobbler or pie. (Not that I'd eat either.) :)

[identity profile] panjianlien.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Get a lot of people without blueberries in their ears, and rectify that.

[identity profile] imnotandrei.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
To use the technical term, you win.

For (nearly) immediate consumption: pie or cobbler *drool*
For longer term: blueberry chutney

You could also can the equivalent of blueberry pie filling.

I envy you your abundance!

I have canning supplies and equipment, and have made really good blueberry jam and _jelly_ - takes A LOT OF blueberries to make blueberry juice!

(unfortunately, I can only do this tomorrow or after next monday, but can offer the equipment!)

[identity profile] pantryslut.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
I think I actually have some leftover canning jars from the last time I made apricot jam a few years ago -- let me check tomorrow.

Remember that you have friends with lots of freezer space

[identity profile] irontongue.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I was going to say!

In order:

1. Eat them.
2. Pie.
3. Pancakes.
4. Muffins.

Blueberry syrup, canned in jam jars. For use on waffles, pancakes, mixe drinks, or face paint.
