meanwhile, in the box this week
* Many large tomatoes! I think it's time for a round of tomato and cheddar sandwiches. And tomatoes on toast. And tomato and mozzarella salad. And...
* Summer squash. These days, it seems all I ever do with it is sauteed with bay leaves (yum!), or sometimes grilled, but if the weather gets/stays cool, I might try a baked squash and rice and cheese thing.
* Green beans. I ate them up yesterday in a stir-fry with garlic, fish sauce, and pork.
* Cucumbers. One Armenian, one regular. Probably destined for a stir-fry.
* More carrots. eek!
* Watermelon. I now have two on the counter.
* Another melon of the cantaloupe family.
* Peaches.

(The first thing I miss up here is fresh foods. Toilets are a close second, and real showers third, but being without any fresh foods is frustrating.)
my favorite season of the year, hands down.
And in 10 days I'll go visit my parents, whose garden will be full of home-grown tomatoes. Mmm.
