Sloat Garden Center was giving away a packet of free ladybugs to all their garden club customers this week, so I stopped by and picked up a little mesh bag full of the critters this afternoon. In between rain showers, I sprinkled them all over the lemon tree, the trumpet vine, the mint and the parsley. Last time I checked, they were all nestled happily in the leaves and branches, cute little jewels winking at me from the damp leaves.
Even if they fly away to the next door neighbor's yard, I am happy. Though I don't think they will -- my yard has plenty of aphids to feed them well.
