If you do go to the post office on a Friday afternoon, do not go to a post office which has only two windows.
If you do go to a post office with only two windows on a Friday afternoon, try not to be there when the machine at one of the stations crashes.
If all of the above should happen to occur, however, it's a good time to pick up the mail at your PO Box, because the postal workers will be so relieved that it's a simple, quick, computer-free task that they will smile with gratitude instead of hassling you about not having a key for your box.
It probably helps if you buy some stamps, though.
