Jan. 9th, 2006 09:46 amThe highlight of my weekend was probably going to see Midori's installation "Path Web Choice" at Femina Potens. You can check out all the details (including the artist's statement) here. I encourage everyone to go visit. I don't want to be too heavy, but it was a really moving experience to be in that space.
Midori will be performing at the installation this Thursday, January 12, and next Wednesday, January 18, but you can also visit it during the gallery's regular hours.
Runner-up for the weekend was the food at...wait for it...Sneaky Tiki, a deconstructed tiki bar in the same space that Hamburger Mary's used to be. The space is tres trendy, a bit loud, and apparently a favorite spot for birthday parties -- there were three while we ate dinner. But the food was quite surprisingly good. (Bacon-wrapped water chestnuts. Tuna tartare. Fried wonton chips. And more!) Also, you have not seen teh cuteness until you see one member of the couple you are dining with attempt to re-enact the spaghetti scene from Lady and the Tramp with a Chinese long bean, only to have her companion wrench the bean away with her teeth and growl. "This is what it would be like with real dogs," she muttered.
