I was listening to the intro to this song and thought at first that I had mis-heard the pronoun: "he isn't much in the eyes of the world, but he is the world to me..." and then I realized how it was meant to be, and a whole underground gay world opened up in my head for just a bit.

Paul Petersen, "My Dad," 1962.

Extra bonus: the clip is from The Donna Reed Show. (Petersen played Reed's son. P.S. He was also a Mousketeer, briefly -- but was fired for "disorderly conduct.")

I had the honor of meeting Junko Mizuno last month, and I told her that her artwork is very much what the inside of my head looks like (sometimes). Um.

This is amazing and cool stuff, and she is a really sweet person. I don't think I can make it to the signing, alas, but maybe you can!

Junko Mizuno at New People, 1746 Post St. in SF, Saturday, August 22 at 2pm.

She will be signing her book "Little Fluffy Gigolo PELU":

I think just the title explains why I'm so fond of her stuff. You can see more of Mizuno's work here.

Junko Mizuno also recently did a short story for Marvel Comics' Strange Tales #1.

"Marvel.com: Why'd you select Spidey and MJ to work with?

Junko Mizuno: I picked them because I like drawing spiders and redhead girls."
