April woke up in the middle of the night crying in pain, saying her ear hurt. Yup. I dosed her with baby ibuprofin and cuddled with her on the couch until she fell asleep again. She's much better today but we took her to the doctor and got her antibiotic'd up anyway.

It turns out it's hard to sleep when your child has awakened in pain in the middle of the night. Even if you know the likely cause and imminent solution.

I forgot to mention that Simone insisted on coming into the doctor's exam room while we were waiting and broke into tears when I insisted that she leave. We mollified her with various enticements, but oh! the wailing! "I don't want to be left alone!" (She wasn't alone.) Suddenly the separation issue has another dimension.

Also she's insisting on taking medicine, too, so I am giving her "honey medicine" by spoon every time April gets a dose.

P.S. April's illness scotched our morning plans, but we did make our playground date with Julia.

I think I may have overwritten a draft of a post this morning, because I thought for sure there was a post wherein I actually discussed April's diagnosis and all. Yes, it's an ear infection. She felt fine this morning but when I asked her if her ear hurt she said "yes" so to the doctor we went. She is the most cheerful patient ever.
