So on Friday, which as you can probably guess from my White-Out post was another unbearably slow day at work, I finally broke down and skipped lunch entirely -- noshed on leftovers from an early-morning birthday party instead -- and went tp Patrick and Co. (the office supplies store) and Stacey's bookstore instead.

Patrick and Co., I found out, carries the Pentel clicky pen that I have been seeking in vain for a couple years now. Yay!

It did seem a little ironic to be browsing the cookbooks instead of eating lunch on my lunch hour. I took a peek at Cooking for Mr. Latte by Amanda Hesser because Debbie Ann had hated it so much. She and I were both perplexed because her first book, The Cook and the Gardener, was so good. But when i got to the part in the first chapter where Mr. Latte gets his name, I knew this book wasn't for me. The premise is that this guy has no taste -- because, among other things, he ordered a latte -- after dinner. Didn't he know better?

Amanda Hesser desperately needs to leave New York and move back to rural France. It keeps her honest.
