eh, what he's commenting on is not the story itself but the phrase "how quickly queer marriage can degenerate into extramarital queer activity," just like one might raise her eyebrows at the phrase "my black friend dan." it's about the implication that queer marriage needs to be distinguished from straight marriage in this respect.
I guess, but this is a person who works in publishing, and I would think they would be used to publishing-speak. How else is one supposed to say "and btw, this story is about dykes and marriage, not hets and marriage"?
aha, i didn't realize that. but on the contrary, i'd think someone in the biz would examine publishing-speak far more critically than the average reader.
Yeah. That was interesting in that sort of queer correct smugitude that seems so rampant in certain circles. And by interesting, I mean not so much. I for one can't wait to read the book.
I'm entertained by the way this person picks up on the phrase "queer activity" as something strange and peculiar, whereas I, with the soul of a copyeditor, think "that isn't 'extramarital queer activity'; it should be 'queer extramarital activity.'"

Date: 2005-09-15 08:52 pm (UTC)Point taken about critical reading, but still. It seems a contentless snark to me. And to title it "Dyke Drama" -- talk about mildly offensive...
