One small point on Kiellor: the solution for having a zillion grandparents is to call them "Grandma" or "Granddaddy" [fill in first name here], just like aunts and uncles. That worked for us just fine, where we had divorced and remarried grandparents, and great-grandparents who were still alive and "Grandma [last name]" wouldn't have worked.
As for claiming that parents stayed married in the good old days, I say he's lying. I've found divorces in my family tree back to 1876, when my great-great-granddaddy's first wife divorced him because he was financially irresponsible and she wanted to keep her land.
