Resolutions, or the lack thereof
Jan. 1st, 2004 06:36 pmI don't have any New Year's resolutions. Have you gotten the impression yet that I'm not big on seasonal formalities?
Two years ago, I resolved to write a short story a month, more or less. I did it.
Last year, I resolved to get a finished draft of my Project by the end of the year. I dropped that goal (without a shred of guilt) when the first lawyer letter arrived from my former housemates. I had bigger priorities.
So I am not keen on repeating that experience.
Why should I determine my goals for the year all in one fell swoop right at the beginning? I reserve the right to make changes and reevaluations at any time.
I miss the writing goals, though. They really helped for a while. I'll need to think about that one a bit more.
