and a family note

It was either Saturday or Sunday that I called my mother and offered her a fun project. "It's cold here all of the sudden," I told her, "and my daughters have outgrown all their [practical, not dress-up] hats. Can you knit or crochet them a set of hats?"
I made some noises about how it needn't be urgent or anything. She asked me what colors and I said "surprise me." She said, "Sure! This will be fun!"
Last night at about 10 pm her time she called to tell me they were done and she was putting them in the mail this morning.
This is not quite akin to the infamous weekend when I brought Steven home to visit and she woke up Saturday morning, decided to paint the house, and had it done by Sunday night. But still.
