I don't think I have discussed it here, but both April and Simone (though the latter in particular) are demonstrably interested in the girly-girls on the playground more than anyone else. Simone loves to sit down next to them and tell them stories. April just says "hi" a lot.

What I've begun to notice just today, however, is that April attracts boys. One, younger this time, was following her around the playground this morning, completely fascinated, and another was shyly eye-flirting with her at storytime. And then there was Parker a few weeks ago at Tilden.

None of this means anything, of course, but it's amusing to watch.

Phew.

Not that I expected this from you AT all but it bums me out entirely that for most people "gender neutral" children gear and activity means boy stuff. And that if somehow a little girl were to want a tiara or something that would be bad. Cause, they're kids - they're trying stuff out - and yes I know, I know socialization and whatnot...but my Mom kept me strictly and firmly away from all things frilly and girlish and look how I turned out. ;)

Like I said - I would never expect that from you, and I agree 100% that it doesn't mean anything except this is how they were exploring the world in those moments.

I miss my fairy goddaughters and their whole, big expanded family.

(I miss you a lot. Really just a lot.) xoxoxo

Please kiss them for me?

xoxo

Of course I will give them extra kisses from you.

You might also be amused to know that one of Simone's favorite outfits is a yellow skort with lace trim -- paired with a bulldozer shirt.

I'm also contemplating attaining play crowns, as currently they're repurposing various box ribbons and headbands to play "princess." Also the mesh cover of their booster chairs, which looks a lot more like a nun's habit but who am I to argue? I mean, they also wear their pants on their head and tell me it's a "funny hat." And shoes and socks (and legwarmers) on their hands. I could go on.

Oh, you should go on...I love all of it. And I hate that I'm missing out on it. <3 Please go on as much as you like when I'm around. xoxoxo

Well, I left out the part where they're in their nudist phase right now. "Look, Mommy, I'm naked!" Yes, yes you are.
