1. We got the woman I don't like at storytime today, and sure enough, suddenly my children were impish and poorly behaved. Part of the problem is that she doesn't seem to have a robust skill set for dealing with toddlers--she'd say "don't do x" and not offer an alternative, and, well, duh. Also, she sang her songs way too fast and didn't repeat them. This actually made April cry, b/c the woman rushed through "Itsy Bitsy Spider" once and didn't do it again and my daughter missed it. So we sat in my lap and did the finger play ourselves, twice, slowly. G. suggests I mention something to the library.

2. Extra bonus gold star to our nanny friend who also attends storytime (and whose name I still can't remember). She adores Simone and kept trying to coax her into settling down and maybe even sitting in her lap, which has worked in the past.

3. It rained just as we got to the playground.

4. I have been sent a small windfall from my grandfather's estate. I think I am going to spend it primarily on earthquake kits and tattoos.

5. I forgot to mention that G. and I used the "Time Capsule" at Sins Invalid as a kissing booth. We made out for art!

sounds like she isn't a good storyteller for yr kids, but are other kids engaged? can you and the kids leave if it isn't working for them?

I don't think she's a good storyteller for many of the other kids, either. If it hadn't rained, I was going to check in with the nanny to hear her impressions as well, but several people left early and there wasn't a lot of singing along. It was just generally very low-energy.

I did try to leave early, and next time I think I will try to discreetly slip out if I see her. This is only the second time in almost a year she's worked this particular time slot. The first time I did think it was just a personality mismatch between her and my kids, but after this second time I'm beginning to think there's a bigger issue. I dunno. I have mixed feelings. I don't want to get her in trouble but I bet she'd be better for the preschool group rather than trying to deal with the younger kids.

4. Glad to hear it, although sorry if it's related to a death of a loved one. It's that paradox. Earthquake kits seem to be a family wish! Where are you going to start? 72hours.com?

5. I read that as something to do with the Sims.

6. I dreamed about you giving birth to the twins with G in the hospital with you and S waiting outside in the car, with his dog, which then ran away and got ran over. Then in chasing that dog down, I also let my dog get run over. They both lived ... I think. And so did the twins and G. But when S was telling someone who had witnessed his dog get run over about you guys, this fictional woman got confused and thought "L and G" were the people who had run down the dog, and asked S if he would sue, and he got very offended. Meanwhile, as in all my dreams, cell phones and texts weren't working right and public transit was fucked up.
