It's true that back when I was a bit more pagan in bent than I am now, I did an intensive-ish study of herbalism. I still have a big database of lore. It's mostly theoretical knowledge, but I do occasionally patronize the large jars at Rainbow for home remedy purposes.
It's true that I similarly dedicated myself to certain edible garden plants in the brief time that I had a garden to care for. (I also grew up with a vegetable garden. It was only a modest success, but my mother enjoyed it immensely, and so did I.) I wouldn't say that I had a green thumb or anything, though.
I still feel like a rank beginner when it comes to flowering plants. And houseplants? Forget it.
I also pretty much suck when it comes to identifying plants and trees in the wild, although I'm much better at it in the Midwest.
So, what does it take to qualify as a plant geek? Discuss!

Speaking of which, anyone want any aloes? Horatio ("the aloe that won't die" -- even if I name it cheesy goth names) has had many "Horatio Juniors" and I have repotted them all but have more aloes than I know what to do with now!
