Apr. 8th, 2004 01:04 pmI would like to call an official end to the bluegrass revival.
Don't get me wrong. I kinda like bluegrass. It's a secret vice stemming from formative years as a child spent wandering around the Charlotte (Michigan, not Carolina, pronounced Char-lotte) Bluegrass Festival in the summer. And the nice ensemble that used to gather to play together in the yard behind my parents' yard on long summer nights.
But if I get sent one more disc of girls with pretty harmonies and twangs in their voices, singing along with a banjo, reciting neo-traditional lyrics about love, betrayal, and God -- always in an elliptical way, of course -- I am going to scream. That's all.
