Having a Good Day, Don't Jinx It
Apr. 17th, 2012 04:57 pmToday I came to the realization that I have a pretty effective set of skills for facilitating small group discussions. Don't laugh! I've been in support groups off and on (mostly queer-related) for most of my adult life, plus I go to cons and moderate various program items on a semi-regular basis. Thus it seems I have accumulated a decent experience base.
Today I also learned that I currently have off the charts levels of kid charisma going on. I'm not sure why in this case, but I'm not complaining either.
Also today I won a tiny grant, I successfully initiated small talk at the BART station, and I made the lunch counter guy happy by ordering his secret favorite sandwich (salami and cheddar on wheat with mayo and mustard. Who knew?).
The girls both took naps, the sun came out a little after noon, Simone can read her name, it is tres charming to watch the ladies dance during the credits of "Ruby Gloom," and my voice is has officially reached the sexy-husky stage rather than the squeaky-hoarse stage it's been stuck in forever. It's been a good day so far.
