pantryslutIn general, I think most personality tests are as valid as astrology (which is another personality test, in a way). They all have internally consistent structures that can sometimes generate insight, and are sometimes way off base. We tend to ignore the off-base bits and focus on the insights -- which are often confirming of our own preconceptions rather than genuinely illuminating something that was hidden before. (Having worked briefly as a phone psychic, I am always reminded of those talk show segments where the psychic takes a caller and says things like, "you have a brother. He has brown hair. He works as an auto mechanic." Yeah, tell me something I don't know already!)
So, with that in mind, I thought it would be more interesting to see what other people thought were the insightful bits from these test results. After all, I already know which parts make sense to me.
Nonetheless, as promised, here are my thoughts.
Not much new information or insight here. Yeah, I'm critical. No, I am not indecisive (except when trying to figure out what to do for dinner ;) ). Yes, I tend toward pragmatism. Logical and organized but with creative flair, literate and verbal but balanced, blah blah blah.
It was the line about auditory processing that was weird for me. As it happens, I do have slight probems absorbing information aurally. (It helps if I can write things down.) This is just another confirming thing, not a new insight into myself, but it does leave me in the position of the awed psychic client. How can you tell from a web quiz that I have this particular trait? Whoah. "Dude, how'd you know my brother's name was Antonio?"
