Valentine closes her review by saying that this is "a trilogy that has charted, not so much the rise of a spy, but the birth of a monster."
In other words, thematically speaking, it's doing what the Episodes 1-3 of the Star Wars franchise were trying to do, only much more successfully and grown-up(ish)-like.
Bond is our new Vader.
