A Short Lesson in Managing Picky Eaters

pantryslutToday for Christmas Dinner I served a turducken from 4505 Meats as part of the Festive Meal (tm). The kids sat down at the table with us and were served the same food, not always the rule in my house. Both were enthusiastic about the meat but started making loud declarative sentences about what sides they were not going to eat right off the bat.
I told them both, "you have to choose one vegetable for your plate" and offered them their choice of the three side dishes I'd made -- mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes and carrots, and pan-cooked greens.
Both of them chose the greens. And ate most if not all of what was put on their plate.
The moral of this story is: don't second-guess your picky eaters.
