scary bus moment

Also, yesterday April fell asleep on the bus ride home and fell off her over-the-wheel high seat during a sharp turn. Scared herself, me and the whole bus -- the bus driver pulled over for a moment to check in -- but she landed on her backpack and didn't suffer even a single bruise. I squashed in beside her on the seat for the rest of the ride home and cuddled hard. Simone sat on the other side, next to the window, and she sobbed quietly and held her sister in a big hug. April told me solemnly, "Simone is crying happy tears."
