Jun. 26th, 2004 06:10 pmI caught Deep Dickollective at Studio Z last night. I've been meaning to go to one of their shows for a long time, because my friend Juba is a member of DDC and I've heard good things about them.
I'm sorry I waited so long.
G. bought their latest disc, The Famous Outlaw League of Proto-Negroes, and we listened to it together this morning. This allowed me to catch more of the words than the somewhat muddy microphones permitted last night.
Geez, I don't know what to say about these guys. For those of you who haven't heard of them, Deep Dickollective is a queer hip hop group. A label that really doesn't do what they're doing justice. They're smart, political, sassy, creative, everything you could want in an underground hip hop act. Including the fact that they're a whole lot of fun. If you're in the Bay Area and you like hip hop, don't make the mistake I did -- catch them as soon as you get a chance.
