Your last chance to catch this long-running and ever-popular literary smut-salon in 2004 -- and the LAST TIME EVER we will be in the 848 space! (Don't worry, we'll be back in 2005, and the wonderful 848 folks will be moving somewhere new in the meantime.)

Come experience the cutting edge of erotic fiction, with presentations by local and visiting writer/performers including Bill Brent, Simon Sheppard, Patrick Califia, Doug Harrison, Daphne Gottleib, Steven Schwartz, ferret, Jen Collins, and Tina Butcher.

Costumes, including fetish wear and birthday suits, are welcome.

$12-$20 sliding-scale contribution to benefit our chosen charities. No-one turned away for lack of funds.

We strongly suggest making a reservation by calling (510) 451-2646 and leaving your phone number for confirmation, or emailing PPO@blackbooks.com. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. We suggest you arrive by 7:45pm and allow enough time before that for parking if you are traveling by car.

Yesterday at work, my hard drive up and died. Blue Screen of Death and everything. I lost about two hours or so of work time, and I'd already taken off the morning for a doctor's appointment (see later post), so that effectively killed my day productivity-wise.

Today after lunch, the system stopped recognizing my password and so I managed to lock myself out of the network.

The IT guy, to his credit, has been very patient and mellow about all of this, even if it does take him a looong time to show up in the first place.

1) Bronchitis. Viral. Something going around. Very persistent. Sorry. Cough syrup with codeine might help. Steroid inhaler might, too. Oh, and some pills. Prescriptions galore.

2) Muscle strain in shoulder. Physical therapist will know what to do. Referral.

3) Ringworm. Over the counter.

(what the doctor didn't say: nothing about my weight except "has it been stable?")

I also got tested for TB, and forgot to schedule a tetanus booster. And of course we went over my entire medical history, plus my family's. I concluded that all potential health problems except the migraines and the knee deterioriation -- diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid, cancer -- are my father's fault, or at least his family's. "I guess you should get a new daddy," he said when I told him the news. I replied that I thought it was too late for that.
