1. I couldn't eat much dinner last night b/c of the odor sensitivities
caused by the migraine. No delicious leftover ribs or teriyaki chicken for
me. Only peanut butter toast, and birthday cake.

2. No time to cook this week, except tomorrow. Must do something with all
those tomatoes. (We ate up just about everything else at the BBQ. Yay!)

3. Toma-toes. Hee hee.

4. Writing will happen. Soon. No, really this time.

5. Actually, I think chapbook will happen soon. I have a title and some
cover art ideas. I am going to sell it to raise money for my braces. I am
going to have a benefit, too, I think.

6. But I think I may be flaking on an essay supposedly due at the end of
this month. I'd feel more guilty if I actually felt like I had something
to say on the topic.

7. Before my benefit, there will be a Perverts Put Out! on September 23.
Simone Sheppard and I are reviving the series. Big kudos to Simon. Watch
this space for details.

8. I am editing a book. I need more stories. I will be hitting you up soon.

9. I am co-running the programming portion of a con, too. The book drops
first. (It's on their spring schedule! Yay! Yikes!)

10. And then there's that other plan, which also starts in earnest in
September. My, I am a busy girl.

(Bonus points: Don't forget the birthday and the anniversary coming up.)

As a birthday present to myself, I bought a pot and a small flat of
flowers this weekend.

The flowers are known as "johnny jump ups" to me, and I think they have
other names too. they are midway in size between violets (which I adore)
and pansies (which I am not so fond of), and they come in a range of
colors. I got a lot of purple and yellow ones; I also like the purple and
white ones. And the purple ones. And the white ones. Anyway. There is a
pot of them on the front porch now, looking perky and colorful in the
summer sun.

These flowers, and the herbs also growing on the porch (mint, marjoram,
parsley, lemon thyme), and the Ursinia with the bright orange
flowers, they all make me bouncy and happy and silly. I am one of those
people who talks to my plants. I sing made-up songs to them. I say weird
things like, "these flowers wanted to come live with me. See how happy
they look?"

I am, honestly, only a mediocre gardener, but I am an easily pleased one.
