Jun. 19th, 2007 09:48 amI have a bit of cheese smeared on my shirt from an unfortunate encounter with breakfast.
I really have a hang-up about food or stains on my shirt. And this shirt already had a small grease spot on it before my breakfast accident.
If I had my druthers, I would be sitting here typing in my bra. But that's just not work-appropriate. Even here.
If I had a car, i would nip out during lunch and *buy* a new shirt somewhere. But no.
I have to sit here and suffer until it's time to go home.
UPDATE: I washed it out in the bathroom sink. I think it looks OK now.

recipes I owe
Jun. 19th, 2007 06:45 pm1. Sloppy Joes a la Mom
(mom says she always doubles this)
1 lb ground beef
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup onion, chopped fine
1 cup ketchup
6 oz tomato juice
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon sugar
2-3 drops vinegar
1 teaspoon Worchestershire sauce
1/4 cup water
Brown the beef and onions. Drain the fat. Add the rest and simmer for a while.
(I recently came across another recipe that I am going to try soon. I'll report back!)
2. Crisp Topping
from Deborah Madison's Vegetaarian Cooking For Everyone. I always double this too.
6 Tablespoons butter, cut into 1/2 inch chunks
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2/3 cup flour
1/2 cup rolled oats or chopped nuts
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, optional (not!)
Work the butter into the rest of the ingredients with your fingers until each piece is coated and you have a coarse, crumbly mixture. Use to cover a shallow baking dish of sliced fruit (and sugar, if needed).
