not exactly a weekend update
Sep. 17th, 2007 10:10 amSometimes, the thought of recapping an exciting weekend just makes me tired.
Especially when I might not have had the best quality sleep last night. Well, four hours of it were solid, at least...
So, OK. I cannot do the Queer Open Mic justice here, but that's what I did Friday. And it was awesome.
On Saturday, I wore the infamous Sears shirt and a white t-shirt underneath to a certain someone's birthday gathering. I managed to spill both my dinner and my (strawberry-flavored and therefore pink and stainy) drink on the white t-shirt, but the light in the fancy drink place was forgiving and nobody noticed. The shirt came clean in the wash the next day.
Sunday I hosted a lot of people at my house. They ate a lot of brownies and played a lot of games. We didn't sing Happy Birthday to
imnotandrei and he didn't get spanked -- yet.
I made three batches of brownies:
a. A batch of brownies-from-a-mix plus raspberry jam. I forgot to grease the pan, and also for some reason this batch came out underbaked despite a *lot* of extra time in the oven and pulling away from the edge of the pan, even. But man, they tasted good.
b. A batch of plain chocolate brownies-from-a-mix. Not a very *helpful* mix, it turns out, because it required both a couple eggs and a stick of butter in addition to the contents of the box. These turned out perfectly.
c. A batch of cream cheese brownies from scratch. These turned out pretty well despite the fact that I was supposed to chill them for three hours (!) and I didn't. Next time, though, half the cream cheese mixture will be more than sufficient.
(Why a mix? Because they were in the pantry, waiting to be used up. So I did.)
In other news:
* More people have complimented my haircut this weekend than have ever complimented my hair, period. Swear. Thanks,
nickdandy! Also thanks to
cindymonkey for the inspiration. Just wait until I slick this stuff back...
* I apparently have a "scene name." Inadvertently. Garnered due to my professional presence in certain online personals sites-slash-communities. Weird.
More soon, I'm sure.
