When I said I had a lot of leftovers, I wasn't kidding. Today, I baked a quarter of a ham that I had intended to serve on Xmas, but didn't get touched until now. I have lots of leftovers.

I made a small batch of buttermilk biscuits to go with. I am very proud of how they turned out. If you can underwork a dough like this, I did it, and as a result, they were perfect.

I am enjoying the quiet as the year winds down, and I finally, after months and months of having a packed schedule, of various stresses and anxieties, have a chance to catch a breath. I walked down to the Grand Lake Farmer's Market this morning. Because of the holidays and the rain, it was small and not very crowded. I didn't buy much, some onions, some shallots, some pork ribs on sale, but it was nice to have a walkaround.

I will do the end of the year wrap-ups soon. But not yet. A few days left here, and I am going to savor them.
