Also, I have been dreaming a lot lately of Lansing.

1. I survived emceeing Perverts Put Out! I was pinch-hitting for Carol Queen, who was unexpectedly out of town. Emceeing is harder than just reading because when you're reading, the words are already there on the page for you; when you're emceeing, you have to make them up on the spot, and be coherent and charming besides. The other readers were all fabulous, and the audience was as warm and enthusiastic as ever. And we even worked in a few Passover jokes.

2. I did have a slightly awkward encounter during the break where I think I was being chatted up for literary purposes. FYI for everyone, I prefer straightforward inquiries, thank you.

3. I retooled my Saturday brunch plans to consist of a household-only outing to a new place in Oakland, Brown Sugar Kitchen. I think we are all collectively still making little sighing noises of contentment. This place is really, really good. Come over some time and we might take you there. But be warned: the rest of Oakland has already apparently figured this out, b/c the place was busy. But worth the wait.

4. Boots! (Confidential to [data embargo]: Fritzi the cat -- the one you didn't get to see -- likes boot worship, too. Pictures forthcoming if we're lucky.)

5. Mini-golf in the dark! I sucked at it much less than I did last time. So much fun!

6. I think dehydration is the problem.

7. Spur of the moment homemade burritos.

8. I miss you, too.

9. Fallen trees! It's amazing that the tree we encountered (which I presume blew down in the strong Saturday afternoon winds) hit no cars and no buildings, but fell straight down to the sidewalk. If it hadn't been so cold and so late, I could have hung out with that tree for a long time.

10. Yes, i did have the peanut butter, banana, and bacon sandwich. And it was delicious.

I think, the next time I read that particular story that I read on Saturday night, I am going to include a disclaimer: "This is fiction, yo. You think it's true b/c I am a good writer and very convincing, and maybe also because I lifted a few details here and there from real life, but mostly the former (good writer, very convincing) and not the latter, 'K?"

FWIW, I have written exactly two pieces of sexual memoir, as far as I can recall. The first is in Best Bisexual Erotica. The second is in the forthcoming Fucking Daphne. (Heh. You'll see.)

I think I may yet have to find or make a t-shirt that says, "Fat And Pregnant."
