The pot that I scorched is haunted. When I put it on the stove, it makes poltergeist noises, and sometimes the lid trembles.

Also, I need a copper cleaner as well as a stainless steel cleaner, I think, to remove the tarnish (it's a copper-core bottom). Although if it does not become un-haunted, I may just look into replacing it.

Sounds like the kind of thing a pot does when its bottom is uneven, and air and steam get trapped between it and the burner, and escape as best they can. Might the bottom have gotten a bit warped from being scorched?
