My grandfather died suddenly this morning.
As my mother said, he really didn't want to be here anymore, after my grandmother died last year. We knew this was coming sooner rather than later, and he's been in and out of the hospital a lot lately. But he'd just come home from the rehab facility last night or this morning.
Mom will be coming out to California for the memorial, which will probably be next weekend, but details are pending.
I've disabled comments because of the complicated feelings thing. My grandfather was a supremely difficult person, and I may be understating the case here. He wasn't physically abusive or anything like that, but again, I am damning with faint praise. Nonetheless, he's my mother's father and this is hitting her very hard right now. She's lost both her parents in the span of six months.
