April Appreciates Symmetry

April is very interested these days in bodies, body parts, belly buttons, and tattoos. Last night she started out by checking out Fran's ink. I showed my daughter the tattoo on my upper arm and let her touch and name it ("sun").

She then went and pulled up the sleeve on my other arm to see if I had matching tattoos. Alas, she found only a large mole.

Today I am cleaning out my fridge and freezer. This means I have three pots of stock on the stove--mushroom, shrimp, and chicken--and soup plans for dinner. I am so glad the weather has broken; there is a nice cool breeze through the house today.

Now all I need is a use for a whole lot of shrimp and mushroom stock :)

In related news, the soup tonight was delicious. I basically winged a simple vegetable soup: saute onions, then carrots, then green beans, fresh tomatoes, zucchini. Add a little tomato paste for body, and some chicken stock. Cook for a while. Salt and pepper. Add a big dab of pesto and some parmesan at the end, and maybe some vinegar and/or hot sauce, just a splash to perk things up.
