OK! A wrap-up!
Sep. 2nd, 2010 03:36 pm1. I finally got to sample that supertrendy trendy food that is the Korean Taco, via Seoul on Wheels and the delivery services of
imnotandrei. Conclusion? The spicy pork taco is a keeper and I can totally see why people are nuts for this stuff, although I'm not bowled over in the same way. Still, I'd seek 'em out, for sure, especially considering the lunch food competition they face. The kimchee fried rice was just OK, though -- I've both had and made better myself.
2. Went out to the Mission yesterday with the girls. The playground equipment was exposed to full sun and thus too hot to play on, alas. But we had a nice picnic in the shade and the ladies enjoyed bossing around a sweet boy who appeared to be about 18 months old. He "lent" them his toy cars, and OK I think the dad was entirely charmed by the fact that my daughters immediately shouted "soccer ball!" and started kicking it around when he brought it out.
3. I then took a very long walk to 16th street in the heat after the BART elevator turned up broken. The ladies napped in the shade of their stroller, lucky girls. My legs from the calves down were tingling by the time I got home, and I may be just a touch sunburned in places. Toddlers are good exercise even when they're unconscious! But it gave me the chance to buy bananas and donut peaches on the way home. But no barrettes. What's happened with barrettes? All I could find were these huge hair clippy things.
4. The staff at Taqueria San Jose were super-solicitous. They even watched the stroller while I nipped into the bathroom--normally I would've taken it in with me, but there was interior construction in the way. Yes, my girls are that charming, even when they're asleep. (Or maybe I'm just charming. Or hapless. Or both.)
5. Seriously folks, the level of charm these kids can exude is insane. They are going to get into so much trouble someday soon. (Especially Simone, who knows it. April is all about oblivious silly charm.) Or, well, at least they have their parents, who know their secret and enforce boundaries anyway. Which might be one reason why I'm so damn tired all the time :)
5a. April was in pigtails and a sundress and was still mistaken for a boy. And then I had to field the apology. At least nobody asked after their parentage this trip.
