Jan. 19th, 2011 12:44 pmToured a nursery school in the neighborhood today.
On the tour were two other parents. One was a nice and slightly nervous (and pregnant) woman, the other a man in a suit. The man was all straight up and down, almost hunching his shoulders. He was determined to be the hard-ass and ask the difficult questions.
And then there was me.
Something interesting I am learning is that I have zero nervousness when it comes to this process. Which is a thing considering my increasing levels of social anxiety over the years. I love talking to preschool teachers and administrators. I love watching the kids. I used to be a preschool substitute assistant, after all, so I am very, very comfortable in those settings. I can ask my probing questions without sounding like an asshole. I can be warm and friendly, I can charm everyone -- and even more weirdly, I am not at all tired when it's over.
Anyway. The school was nice. And it's close. I think we'll apply.
I have a good dozen more open houses, tours, etc. to go through about mid-February. So good thing this isn't too tiring...
