Catching Up
May. 24th, 2011 12:16 am1. So, OK, Prince. I want to tell you that "when I woke up this morning could have sworn it was Judgment Day" got a laugh, sure, but for me that line opened up so much more. The world didn't end in 1999 but I'll tell you, that year sure feels like good times sometimes these days. Except. So there was this whole growing older/apocalpyse/survivor/find joy where you can dimension, and I got a little dizzy and verklempt with it all.
2. It was nice to have a full-fledged, several hours long, multi-event date with G. that Saturday. We also saw
doriankatz's amazing MFA final show down at Stanford and had a fancy fish meal.
3. I wore a tie. People kept staring at me. Heh.
4. I had a nice late morning picnic in the park on Sunday with all of Shayna's other clients and their kids. And a lovely afternoon concert, and then company making dinner for me in my kitchen in the evening.
5. We had a long discussion as to whether Beethoven hates or merely doesn't respect string players.
slackerstalker contends that he respects them (unlike, say, Tchaikovsky) but has very high expectations. P.S. I understand it's a French pun, but "Pavane for a Dead Princess" still kinda bugs me, what with my dead girl issues and all.
