Apr. 19th, 2012 06:10 pmThe kids and I took a very long walk (for them) down from their school to Lake Merritt and the branch library this afternoon. Along the way there were many dandelions going to seed. Someone has taught them to make a wish and then blow on the seedheads. So the walk was filled with preschool wishes.
"I wish for a big red firetruck."
"I wish for a garden."
"I wish for grass in my back yard."
"I wish for a bicycle. And a helmet with flames."
"I wish for ice cream."
I am thinking of doing my best to fulfill one of those wishes: if I can figure out how to set up a container garden for Simone, I'm going to do it. Right now when she grows up she wants to be either a firefighter or a gardener. I told her she could do both.
Anyone have any gardening-with-preschoolers hints, recs, etc.?
