Sep. 13th, 2012 02:51 pm1. While we were walking home from the dentist this morning, the kids and I passed Slick and Dapper, a newly opened barber shop on Grand. April insisted that she needed a haircut, now. Since a haircut for her has been in the works for a while anyway, and the prices listed in the window were eminently affordable and included "kids' cuts," I decided what the heck and we walked in.
The barber/owner, whose name I have unfortunately blanked on and is not on his card, was so sweet. He took perfect care of April --did I mention this was her first hair cut? And gave her a fab cut. She now looks just a bit like a 1920s flapper with a supercute curly bob. We saved some of the curls in an envelope.
So if you're in my neighborhood and looking for a great basic haircut at a reasonable price? Please let me recommend Slick and Dapper. I want this place to stick around for a long time.
2. Simone has announced that she wants to make carrot soup with me for dinner tomorrow. OK! It's a plan! I think I am going to let her peel and chop the carrots, even. With her itty-bitty serrated knife. Why carrot soup? I cannot say.
3. The kids and I had a lovely day today and yesterday just walking around the neighborhood. Ice cream, french fries and then socks (and cheetah shoes) at the Gap yesterday; dentist, pancakes and wandering through the garden store today.
4. I begin to wonder if Netflix on Demand is throttling us.
