Weekend Update
Jul. 26th, 2004 10:45 amPPO was fabulous. Great audience and awesome readers. Thanks to
jessicamelusine,
charliegrrrl, and everyone else who read.
My boss, Bill, even brought carrot cake to share with the audience to celebrate his birthday. (The red frosting flowers were bitter! But everything else was tasty.)
My stint at Dore Alley was pretty slow. The St. James Infirmary booth was situated at the end of Dore, right by the secondary entrance gate -- but behnd the three covered HIV testing booths, so it was hard to see us if you were coming from the Folsom side; it looked like closed booths and port-a-potties and nothing else. In fact, the first time through, I had to consult a map at the volunteer check-in to figure out where I was supposed to be. I saw a few people I knew, but I also missed a bunch of folks who said that they'd stop by.
It was cold in that booth! I was forced to stand out in the sun and preen. I wore pink as part of my ongoing rebellion against fetish fashion standards at street fairs -- a pink and white tank top emblazoned with an anchor, to be exact, plus a (gen-u-wine eBay find) sailor's cap. I had my picture taken a couple times, but nobody cruised me (that I know of). One guy might have been trying to chat me up, but I wasn't really interested so I didn't bother to figure it out.
Fortunately,
black_pearl_10, who was picking me up, is smart and entered on Dore. He found me immediately and right at the end of my shift.
I didn't eat dinner because I was tired and lacking appetite, but I paid for it this morning.

Date: 2004-07-26 05:54 pm (UTC)Charliegrrl, I'm right there with ya, w.r.t. Simon's reading/performance... I cannot stop talking about how hot it was. (Oh, and then there was the sexy one sitting in front of me, in the front row, distracting us with her costume change! ;)
-k!
