When it rains etc.
Jul. 30th, 2004 12:16 pmI have a new job, too. It starts Monday. It's the highest pay rate I've ever taken, and I didn't even have to interview -- it's a temp-to-hire placement in downtown San Francisco. With a medical company. I'm told the work is boring as hell, but hey, I've scanned papers for eight hours a day before, I suspect I can handle it.
Actually, I had a funny conversation with my temp manager/recruiter -- he's a doll. He used to be a musician and a music label person. He wanted to make sure I'd be OK with this, and we chatted about how sometimes, having a dull-as-dirt job was actually better for our creativity. "I didn't write a note when I was at the label," he said. I shared with him my concerns that freelance nonfiction writing uses the same part of my brain as my fiction writing.
So, I'll try it. A plunge back into the deep end of fulltime work. I think I need to spend some quality time with my closet this weekend.
