I had a rather sedate (well, for me) but enjoyable Halloween weekend. I even got my reviews done in a managable and liesurely fashion. Also got to see lots of friends -- most noteworthy, perhaps, being that I ran into [livejournal.com profile] maliceangst after 15 years at [livejournal.com profile] redshrike's re-housewarming party.

I kinda still want a consolation dinner for my Bad News on Friday, but otherwise I've pretty much bounced back. Or maybe it's just a sugar high from all this leftover candy. Did anyone have trick-or-treaters this year?

heh. weirdly, we *had* trick or treaters. and we were totally unprepared because over the last 10 years we never have. I think the "It's a Girl" sign looked like a Halloween decoration in the dark, fooling the kiddies.

yay for Maliceangst! I met her a few weeks ago. I wish I hadn't of been sick this weekend...

So the "It's A Girl!" sign repels canvassers but attracts candy-seeking kids? Cool!

I hear everyone goes to Piedmont. Also, they often have school parties so that kids aren't out on the "dangerous" streets interacting with strangers. Feh. I'm glad I grew up when they still had big swings and straight slides in playgrounds.

i went to berkeley and we gave out candy to about 60 kids
it was way fun
the trick was
we gave out glitter wishes before the candy
which gave the kids a chance to show off their costumes

the winner was a 6 year old sumo wrestler
complete with big fleshy styrofoam costume -wow-
that kid could barely get down the sidewalk

we had trick-or-treaters. not lots of 'em, but we get some every year, and i think we got more this time around. i saw plenty of squads of them walking around between japantown and my place, too.

wow, i didn't hear about you re-encountering malice, but 1) that party seemed to be chock-full of that sort of thing, and 2) do you start to see what i meant about my world being sort of teensy?

i'm sorry about your friday crap news, and sorry i didn't say so earlier...but i'm damned glad you made it to our party.

We had plenty. We had to go and replenish our supply of sweets twice. :-)

It was most excellent to see you again, and with the lovely Brandy Chastain on your arm, no less!
