Bodies Are Weird
Jun. 2nd, 2003 10:29 amI've hidden this behind a cut tag because it might just be
My left armpit is malfunctioning.
My left armpit has actually been on the fritz for several years. It doesn't sweat. I don't know why. It just doesn't. I just coped.
Every once in a while, like maybe once a year, it would get all red, and itch a little, like it was irritated or sunburned or something. Then it would get better and go back to being inert.
Recently, though, I had my little episode of redness, and when it was gone, my armpit worked again. It was sweatin'. And smelling just like an armpit should. For the first time in years.
For about a week.
Then it went back to being red and irritated, and itchier than before.
And then it got better, and was sweating.
For about a week...
I'm at the tail end of yet another red-and-itchy cycle. This time it appears to be going back to its inert state. Crossed fingers.
I have no idea what might be going on here. I used to chalk it up to detergent sensitivities or something, but now I'm mildly concerned. Of course, I have no medical insurance at the moment, so unless somebody says "ohmigod! That's a tumor warning! Run don't walk to the emergency room!", I'm kinda stuck. Still, if anyone has any insight as to what might be going on, I'm interested in hearing about it.
It's hard to Google on "broken armpit."
Oh yeah, P.S.: no, I have never ever shaved my pits, so it's nothing to do with that.
P.P.S No lumps, no tenderness.

(I still use antiperspirants when going out to a job interview or something, but you're right, mostly I use this hippie aloe-based deodorant thingie that doesn't work but smells nice. But only on the right.)
