I used to go shopping for bras -- back in the days when I could find bras in my size on the rack, that is -- with my father rather than my mother, because he was more comfortable with it.
My father also told me once that my mother had attempted to talk him into giving me "the period talk," but in this case he insisted that she was really the one with the first-hand information.
