I catered a sex party this weekend. And it was good -- the food, and the experience. I was apparently smiling all night. But boy, do I have a lot of leftovers.

Details might or might not follow, for I am also tired and a little scatterbrained today.

I run a big sex party (~100-200 people) about every month at this point. Yes, they're lots of fun.

You know, maybe I'm naive, but it seems to me like 40-50 people would be a "big" sex party. 100-200 people is HUGE.

(ssc: I came within a hair's breadth of saying it's fucking huge. But, um, maybe that's a poor turn of phrase in the context.)

I'm willing to concede that 200 people (and more, some nights) is huge. At this point, 100 people seems normal, manageable, and mild. And, you know, sex clubs think we're pikers, and they do it every night, so my sense of scale may be skewed.

It might also be worth pointing out that at no point, usually, are all 200 folks in the same space at the same time. Just like regular parties, people shift in and out.

ohhh sorry I missed your catering. What all was there for the food?
C was up in Truckee, so I stayed home and watched movies.

There will be other opportunities to catch my sex party catering :) I will tell you all about the food! I'm going to write up my shopping list and budget this week anyway.

The fanciest things were little tea sandwiches (in celebration of spring, of course). I made cucumber and butter, and radish-cream cheese-poppyseed-arugula. I especially liked the latter, but both kinds got gobbled up. I also made cucumber canapes with olive paste and walnuts as a vegan alternative.

Also: a pesto white bean dip, a pistachio-mint-goat cheese spread, purchased hummus from Krivaar, crudites, grapes, brownies, purchased cookies, loose pistachios, edamame, and now my memory is fading...

I read that final line as "left lovers."

Leftovers can find homes ....

[livejournal.com profile] gordonzola was telling me that he purveyed the cheese.

It's too bad that the next Second Sunday is so far away; I have lots of cookies and crackers in particular.

Cheese notes follow anon; I have to thank my purveyor personally first :)

The cry of "HI I'M HERE TO PICK UP THE SEX PARTY CHEESE!" should be heard at every cheese counter in the land.
