The Farmer's Market and Me
Mar. 15th, 2003 04:23 pmMy refrigerator was already overstocked. So why did I got to the farmer's market this morning?
But on the other hand: pea shoots, young dandelion greens, baby lettuces. Olive oil from Sciabica. Walnuts and almonds from the Almond Lady with the teddy bears in their tin-bucket spaceship. Celery and fresh herbs for minestrone, later in the week.
Hobbs bacon BLTs from the Hayes Street Grill booth.
And Girl Scout cookies, last of the season.
And then I came home and ate a handful of peas, fresh off the back fence. I didn't plant enough to do much more than snack on the pods that are appearing right now. Which turns out to be OK. But in my next garden, I will plant a *lot*. And inoculate them too.
