WisCon, Working Backwards
Jun. 1st, 2005 10:45 amThe advantage of a very long trip home is that I got to read a lot of books on the airplane.
In fact, I read two books start to finish yesterday:
Consider The Eel by Richard Schweid, a book about, well, the culinary and natural history of the American and European eel (with a little bit about the Japanese eel). Yes, there are recipes, but not enough. Otherwise the book is great, leaning heavily toward the travelogue (which is not a bad thing at all).
Troll: A Love Story by Johanna Sinisalo, a winner of this year's Tiptree Award. Adored it as predicted, particularly since Tom of Finland makes a cameo appearance. Or his art does, at least.
Earlier in the weekend, I finished up a certain research book referenced a few days ago in this journal. As I said to someone this weekend, "I'm enjoying it immensely, and I wouldn't recommend it."
Bought fewer books than I expected on my Tuesday morning run. Perhaps this was aided by the fact that I misplaced the food section at Shakespeare's. Instead, I bought clothes: a top and some pajamas at WinterSilks. I am wearing the top today.
