Jul. 14th, 2003 06:26 pmOdd food finds of the week: fresh walnuts and fresh chickpeas (aka garbanzo beans), one at the farmer's market on Saturday and the other just this afternoon at the produce store.
Preliminary research indicates that fresh walnuts (still in their green hulls, looking like crab apples) are usually either pickled or made into a Florentine liqueur, neither of which help me much.
I haven't had a chance to look up what to do with fresh chickpeas, which come in their own loose green pouch.
